David “Sweet” Lane plays lap steel and provides vocals. A former hippie who hitchhiked to Oakland in 1968 to chase his rock ‘n’ roll dreams, Dave later spent time with Tampa legends The Outlaws. A multi-instrumentalist, Dave brings a wild and enigmatic energy to the band, limited to lap steel only because the band jokes they don’t have enough electrical outlets for his other talents.
Michael Starks sings, plays guitar, and keyboards for the band. He used to be a scientist who studied underground water, but he quit that job to become a musician because he wanted to make a positive difference in the world. He writes the songs, and they help the band’s music stay down-to-earth and easy to understand.
Together, these five musicians create a sound that’s as unique as their backgrounds. Their new album, Anything Real?, takes listeners on a journey through life’s ups and downs, exploring deep themes with humor and heart.
